In-depth investigation has been initiated by the European Commission to evaluate whether the proposed merger between Deutsche Börse AG and London Stock Exchange Group would reduce competition in several financial market infrastructure areas. The merger would combine the exchanges of Germany, the UK and Italy, and several of the largest European clearing houses. The merger would create the largest European exchange operator.
