The 2017 ICN Annual Conference was held between 10 – 12 May in Porto. The Conference agenda included various topics related to cartels, mergers, unilateral conduct and competition advocacy. In this context, many plenary as well as breakout sessions were held during the Conference on issues such as strategies for deterrence of competition rules, leniency and challenges for the future, incentives and strategies while making leniency applications, fines and criminal sanctions against cartels, excessive prices, online vertical restraints, sharpening investigations tools of the competition agencies, international cooperation against global and cross border cartels, challenges of big data and unilateral conduct, bid-rigging in public procurement, non-price effects in merger review, advocacy in public procurement, market studies in innovation based markets, analytical framework for evaluating unilateral conduct and role of efficiencies in merger analysis.
