Turkish Competition Board fined Commercial Enterprise of Turkish Pharmacists' Association

The Turkish Competition Board imposed a fine of TL 18,062,307.32 on Commercial Enterprise of Turkish Pharmacists' Association, the dominant undertaking in the market for the procurement of medicines from abroad. The Competition Board decided that Commercial Enterprise of Turkish Pharmacists' Association abused its dominant position contrary to Article 6 of the Competition Act No.4054 through exclusive agreements concluded with medicine suppliers located abroad. The fine of TL 18,062,307.32 represents 1.5% of annual gross revenue of the undertaking in 2015. In addition to fines, the Competition Board decided to send an opinion to the Ministry of Health and Social Security Institution with a view to introducing competition to the market for the procurement of medicines from abroad.
