European Commission fined Crédit Agricole, HSBC and JPMorgan Chase approx. € 485 million for their participation in euro interest rate derivatives cartel. The fines were imposed as those banks infringed EU antitrust rules by colluding on Euro interest rate derivatives pricing elements and involving in exchange of sensitive information. Previously, Barclays, Deutsche Bank, RBS and Société Générale admitted their involvement in the same cartel, settled with the European Commission in December 2013 and paid approx. €820 million in total. At that time Crédit Agricole, HSBC and JPMorgan Chase did not settle and the European Commission continued the investigation about them. As a result, Credit Agricole, HSBC and JPMorgan Chase were imposed fines over €114 million, €33 million and €337 million respectively. The press release dated 7 December 2016 about the decision is available at http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-16-4304_en.htm
